26 May 2009
According to the league tracker, 172 matches have now been played resulting in 90 home wins, 50 away wins and 27 draws, only four of which has ended 0-0. The total number of goals scored is 561, 322 of them by the home team and 239 by the visitors. That's an average of 3.26 per game, with the highest number in one game the nine in the 5-4 match between Lanark and Kilwinning Rangers. There have been 76 clean sheets for the keepers with Kilbirnie Ladeside managing 12, nine for Clydebank and eight each for Lanark Utd, Largs Thistle and Maybole. On the other hand, Hurlford Utd and Kilwinning Rangers have only had one apiece.
Alan McCrae (East Kilbride Thistle against Maybole), Willie McLure (Largs Thistle against Port Glasgow), John Goodwin (SBA against Girvan), Jamie Marks (Largs vs Annbank), Craig Miles (Lanark against Shotts), Mike Moffat (Girvan against Kilbirnie) and Steve Agnew (Kilwinning against Annbank) have all scored hat tricks.
I have found a total of 69 penalties awarded (although I may have overlooked one or two if they weren't mentioned in match reports) of which 10 have been missed: Middleton (Lanark Utd against SBA). Kevin Barr (SBA against Girvan and Kilsyth), Alan Jack (Clydebank against Kilsyth Rangers), Allan Love (Maybole against Largs), Andy Thomson (Kilsyth against Annbank Utd), Charlie Hobbs (Clydebank against Kilbirnie Ladeside), Andy Stevenson (Maybole against Annbank) and Jamie Longworth (Kilbirnie), John Boyack (Shotts against Renfrew).
Hurlford have conceded the most - nine, and Renfrew have been awarded most - seven, including two in three minutes at East Kilbride, as have Kilsyth and Shotts. Paul Coyle (Port Glasgow), Paul Gordon (Kilwinning Rangers) and Ryan Dees (Renfrew) are top scorers in this area with four each. Feel free to email me however if you know better with regard to these penalty stats as this, along with scorers, is the area with most scope for dispute.
